Our Monday started out pretty normal with light rain. As we were filling the feeder wagon for the weaned calves our neighbor calls with a 911 emergency that his calves (weaned three days prior - as day as ours) had escaped and were running down the road in every direction. Needless to say we dropped what we were doing to head out and help. After 3 hours and completely soaking wet we had gotten most back in the original feedlot pen and 45 head were corralled about a 1/2 mile from there to 2 miles from there back in with the cows in the working corrals. We left Wes's place to come back home to finish our chores and doctor a calf before we headed back to his working corrals to sort cows from calves and haul them back to the feedlot pen. Luckily all calves are accounted for and he doesn't have to rewean his calves again. What turned out to be a cruddy morning actually turned out to be a pretty nice day. :)
